That’s why I pay close attention to sun patterns, daily use, and how the space will evolve through the seasons.
For example, seating areas adjacent to bifold doors are often made too small. Many don’t realise that just walking out requires at least a metre and, for comfortable dining and lounging, a clear width of four metres is often ideal. It’s not uncommon for a well-planned space to reach five metres in depth to guarantee comfort for family and guests alike.
For more intimate moments, smaller seating areas offer charm and a chance to be surrounded by lush plants. I especially enjoy integrating these secluded spots, where close friends can share a quiet conversation or a book can be read in peace, all while wrapped in greenery.
